Hello Everyone!
So much to say and we're running out of time! 29 more school days! I just can't believe it. What a wonderful year it has been, I'll be very sad to move them all on to 4th grade. I have truly been spoiled by them.
1. Mock EOGs - We took the mock math test this morning. The kids have been able to see their score and look at the questions they got wrong. You too can see this by accessing your Powerschool account. Click on SchoolNet and the click on your child's benchmark tests to see the results. This will help us moving forwad to hone in on the skills for practice as we get closer to the actual test date. We will be taking the mock Reading EOG next Thurs or Friday. Stay tuned for those results as well. Both the mock tests are done online and the scores are automatically updated into the SchoolNet system. I'll try to get you more specific details for finding the results. I know your screen will look different than mine.
2. EOG testing dates have changed!!!!!! Hopefully you've received the last couple of calls/emails indicating this. It is beyond our control CMS/State officials have dictated this to us. We will be taking the Reading EOG on Friday, May 23rd before the Memorial Day holiday. We will take the Math EOG when we return on Tuesday, May 27th. This gives us a remaining 17 school days for review/practice. We've started this in both reading and math. I am continuing to add assignments to TenMarks for the kids. We have selected things that the students feel they need more practice in and I'll be adding a few based on today's results from the mock test. Yesterday I sent home a math practice test. It is not homework, nor do i want them to return it. It is just additional examples for you to work on at home. Maybe 2/day as you see fit.
3. End of Year party dates are still up in the air due to the Read to Achieve retests. There will be a retest on May 30th and an additional one on June 6th for any students who have not met the reading requirement in any of the assessments (Dibels, MAP, BOG or EOG).
4. The staff luncheon is on Friday. Thanks to Lia Hinson and Barb O'Shea who I hear will be covering the class. Thanks so much!
5. Thursday is JJs Family Dinner. Hopefully you've RSVPd if you'll be attending. The book fair will be open that evening as well. Our shopping day is on Friday, so feel free to join your kids from 11:00-11:50 while they shop!
6. FYI - I will be sending home via the kids a brown paper bag and an index card for each day of testing along with an envelope. I like for the parents to write a note of encouragement and love for each student for each day of testing. I'll lay them out the night before so that they're on their desks when they come in that morning. You don't have to use the index card. If you want to use your own stationary/cards - that is totally fine. I just encourage everyone to do it so that no one feels left out. I have been known to find former teachers in a pinch if you forget. The paper bags are for you to pack them a surprise and/or treat as a reward for their hard work the day of the test. It can be a food item or special non-food item. This is totally up to you. I just ask that it be able to fit in the paper bag and be sealed so they don't know what's in it:) Once everyone is finished testing that day they open them and eat and gab while we wait for all testing in the building to finish. I just wanted to give you a heads up in case you needed a little planning for the treats/notes. So it's one note and one bag/treat per testing day - 2 of each total.
7. Next Thursday the 8th is the PTA meeting and Music Performance for third grade. The following is from Ms. Tsintzos: The kids need to be here at 6:15. Mtg starts at 6:30. No jeans. No shorts no tshirts. Boys wear collared shirts girls may wear dresses or skirts if they would like or pants, blouses...
I think that is all for now! Please let me know if you have any questions. I have a few emails I am backed up on returning. If you haven't heard back from me, I should be caught up by this afternoon.
Thanks so much!
