Hello Parents!
1. WE DID IT!!!! We have finished our EOG testing and they all survived and did a wonderful job. We have UNOFFICIAL scores back in the building for 3rd graders due to some of them (no one in our room) needing to retest on Friday to try and escape the Read to Achieve requirements and summer school. Unfortunately, I am unable to give you these results until they are deemed OFFICIAL by the county. Sorry:( I so wish I could give you that info! Just feel confident in that if I haven't contacted you, then you have nothing to worry about:) A copy of the official scores will accompany their report cards on the last day of school. 2. Several of you have been asking or been curious about how the classes will look for next year. Until recently, all of those decisions were still pending. There is a tentative plan, but I need to say that it is always subject to change. There is a lot of time between now and August 25th! As of today, this is the plan for your children: The TD/catalyst kids will continue to be grouped in one class so as to better serve them. Without this model, Mrs. Lewis would be able to serve the students for about 1 hr weekly in literacy and 30 min weekly in math. In this model, she'll see them at least 2 hrs weekly in literacy and 1 hr weekly in math. At many CMS schools, TD students are only served 1 hr weekly TOTAL. They will have one teacher for literacy/writing (Doherty I think) and one teacher for math/science/social studies (Deaton - I think). They will spend the AM session with one and the PM session with the other. We currently have 23 students and 3 that I know of are moving for the upcoming school year. The class size requirements change for NC for 4th grade so they will probably add between 6 and 8 students to the remaining 20. 3. Our class party will be on Monday June 9th at 12:45 following lunch. The parents have planned a fun Hawaiian theme with treats, games and a craft I think. I would love to do a family picnic but worried about doing it on the same day due to 5th grade graduation and such. So if you're interested in doing a family picnic and have a preference, please follow this link to a quick survey monkey. https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/YRKXJ9S 4. Stay tuned for the supply pre-order packs! I know Mrs. Newsome has been working on putting that together. 5. Any feedback on this year's agendas? 6. I will officially start packing during specials and after school next week. If you'd like to come help during either of those times, just shoot me an email or show up:) We will mostly start with scanning the books and boxing those up according to level. Second task will be moving the items from this closet down to my old/new closet:) 1100-1215 or 3-4 after school (except on Tues). 7. Have I told you all lately what FABULOUS kids you have!!!! I will truly miss them! |
