Hello everyone! Lots of updates this week!
I can't believe we are in the 2nd quarter already!!! WOW!!!
In Math we are focusing on Geometry-polygons, quadrilaterals and we will hit perimeter this week. Next week we will begin our unit on Multiplication and Division. This will be our focus for 2nd quarter. At the very end we will also tie in area.
I encourage you to have your kids get on Dreambox and Tenmarks. Your login information for both of those have been sent home, but if you need an additional copy, please let me know. TenMarks is great for EOG types of questioning. The kids can work on assignments I have created as well as go to JAM session and select their own objectives to work on.
This week is BYOT (Bring Your Own Technology) for Social Studies. Students with signed permission forms should bring a device from home to research in class. They may bring the device all week. The students are researching and learning about national symbols. Just so you know, when we have BYOT days, the devices get checked in with me in the morning and stored in my desk drawer until we use them. When not in use I lock up my desk. I am not required to do this, but think it helps to eliminate the possibility of any possible theft or damage. So know that i'll be taking some extra precautions.
We had a GREAT time at Slim Goodbody's Bodyology!!! Please ask your children to tell you all about it. He does a great job of presenting the information about body systems in a humorous and fun way without crossing the line. I think they all learned a lot and will be excited to start our next Science unit on the Skeletal and Muscular Systems and Skin. This is my all time favorite unit to teach. We will be doing lots of fun activities - be prepared:) We are scheduled to start this next week.
We are entering cold and flu season so if you see a good deal on tissues, feel free to snag a box or two. We are down to about 8 boxes, but those will go quickly this winter:) Also Clorox wipes will be good to have around, but I don't like to get them out with the kids around.
We are out of spare snacks. So if anyone can bring in a box of goldfish or cheezits or something else, please do!
Thank you to everyone for making their parent-teacher conferences. I have one more to complete tomorrow and we'll have 100%!!! I appreciate all of your support from home! It's takes a village. . .
Thank you all so much for everything you do for your children! I love being a part of their lives!
